Brit, Ben and Eddie - Family Photoshoot

Beautiful mumma Brit invited me to take some photos of her little fam at her parents property in paringa earlier this year.

I did have Brit booked in to have maternity photos, but when I text her to confirm dates she ghosted me… For 3 days…..This was totally unlike her and could only mean one thing!

She was busy having her baby, early.

Life has been pretty busy for Brit & Ben since gorgeous Eddie James joined the world and they’d not yet had the chance to have professional family photos. Eddie was 6 & 1/2 months old during our photoshoot. Brit said “It actually turned out to be a good age as Eddie was more aware and happy to follow the camera so most shots he’s looking'“.

Brit’s parents property was a dream. River frontage, scrub, trees and cliffs!! Throw in a sunset and it’s magical.

A little bit about Eddie, told by Mumma Brit.

“As you can probably see Eddie is on oxygen and has a nasogastric tube. When Eddie was born he surprised us with an extra 21st chromosome (also known as Down Syndrome or Trisomy 21). We spent his first 10 weeks of life in Adelaide (3 hours from home) at the children’s hospital as he needed some extra breathing support in the form of high flow oxygen.

To get home we had to get him onto low flow oxygen which we could then set up in our house and have portable tanks for when we go out. However during this time we also found out that Eddies swallow is not coordinated and as a result milk ends up in his airways and lungs. So, at 19 days old he had the NG tube inserted and couldn’t have anything via mouth. Now that Eddie is a bit bigger we are having some fun with purée and allowing little tastes to try and introduce food to him carefully. As you could imagine it’s a big thing for his little mind to handle and can be a little scary so we just do it slow and steady.”

Behind the scenes, Brit’s sister Marnie helped out at the shoot. Here she is holding Eddie and his portable oxygen tank so I could get some couple shots of Brit & Ben.
